Due to the extended lockdown this event has been cancelled.
You can still contribute to the YourGround research project in Maribyrnong by sharing your experiences about safety and access to public spaces in one of the following ways:
- Join the online YourGround workshop taking place at the same day and time but now on Zoom. Email Zoe to register (see contact info below). Attendees will receive a $25.00 Coles voucher as appreciation for participation.
- Everyone is invited to contribute to the YourGround research by visiting the YourGround website to drop a pin and record your experiences.
Do you ever experience accessibility or safety issues that impact on your movement through public spaces?
You are invited to participate in WalkYourGround, a series of walking tours taking place in seven local Melbourne precincts as part of Open House Melbourne that will be led by members of Monash University’s gender, design and space specialists, XYX Lab.
The walking tour is 550 meters and will commence at Footscray Station, move through Nicholson Street Mall to finish at Maddern Square.
Along the tour, you will hear stories from local women and gender-diverse people about their experiences of safety and have the opportunity to contribute your own stories using the YourGround interactive map. There will also be a closing presentation with light refreshments to enjoy.
Remuneration: Everyone that attends the event to contribute to the YourGround research will receive a token of our appreciation for their valuable time and feedback.
About YourGround
YourGround is a collaboration between XYX Lab and CrowdSpot to crowdsource women and gender-diverse people’s perceptions of safety in public space across Victoria. The map is accessible across Victoria and open to anyone over 18 years identifying as a woman or gender diverse. While the YourGround research project has a focus on women and gender diverse people, Maribyrnong City Council welcomes responses from every member of the community.
