Since the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), a range of housing arrangements and living support options for people with disabilities have become available.

There is a complex interaction between the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (Vic) (RTA), Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) enrolled under the NDIS , and other housing arrangements that are not enrolled under the NDIS, but that the RTA treats the same as SDA.

This complexity makes it difficult for people with disabilities to know, understand and navigate their rights. Through this course, advocates can build their capacity to understand rights arising from these housing arrangements to provide appropriate support and guidance to people accessing their service.

This course will be broken into sections to support advocates in understanding and navigating a range of topics relating to tenancy rights for tenants receiving disability support.
