Public consultation is now open on an exposure draft of the amending instrument to implement the reforms to the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (Transport Standards) and its supporting Guidelines. These amendments give effect to the reforms package announced on 20 March 2024.
You can view the consultation documents and have your say at www.infrastructure.gov.au/transport-standards-reform. You can give feedback on the exposure draft until 20 November 2025.
We are seeking feedback on:
- The clarity of the proposed amendments, to ensure they are easy to understand and reflect the intent of the agreed reforms.
- The effectiveness of the transitional arrangements for operators and providers.
- Whether any additional information is needed in the supporting Guidelines to help with interpreting and applying the Transport Standards.
- Any other relevant views or information.
You can provide feedback on individual amendments, the whole exposure draft, or just the sections relevant to your industry, interest area or individual circumstance. Legislation can be difficult to read, so we have also developed a paper that provides an overview of the exposure draft. This paper aims to summarise the proposed amendments outlined in the exposure draft to make them easier to understand.
