Julie Phillips, the MC, set the scene for “Putting rights centre stage” at Strengthening Disability Advocacy Conference 2016.
The theme for this year’s conference was Putting rights centre stage. The basis for rights in Australia are enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability. DARU launched a beautiful video where people with disability tell us what those rights are.
Julie then introduced Lizzie Blandthorn MP who presented the opening address.
After two days of thought provoking presentations and winding down from her MC responsibilities, Julie met with Marie McInerney for further conversation.
