OPA is running a series of free online workshops for NDIS Support Coordinators, service providers and families about why guardianship is a last resort and exploring alternatives.
In these workshops we will:
- Discuss the empowerment of people with disability when thinking about guardianship and administration processes.
- Explore relevant legislation and policy (Disability Discrimination Act, Guardianship and Administration Act and NDIS Supported Decision-Making Policy)
- Hear about some of the findings of the Disability Royal Commission.
- Share and discuss relevant case studies
These workshops are part of OPA’s new Supported Discussions Project that aims, where possible, to divert people from inappropriate guardianship by promoting supported decision-making and self-advocacy.
Morning and afternoon sessions are available on:
- Monday 13 November
- Thursday 16 November
- Monday 20 November.
