Independent assessments (IAs) will be compulsory for all new NDIS participants from the middle of this year, and for all existing participants from the end of 2021. The government and NDIA claim that IAs are a more “fair and consistent” way to determine the supports that NDIS participants receive. In reality, they are aimed at reducing spending on NDIS participants in the name of what the NDIA calls “scheme sustainability”.
In this meeting we will cut through the spin of the government and NDIA, talk about the reality of independent assessments, and discuss alternatives to both IAs and the current flawed system. We will also talk about what it will take to stop IAs and win a Fairer NDIS.
This meeting will be held on Zoom and will be Auslan interpreted.
