For people with intellectual disability access to effective genetic health care is important to ensure positive health outcomes. Currently, access to genetic health care is not equal and there are several barriers that are contributing to poorer outcomes for people with intellectual disability. Additionally, many health care professionals don’t have the tools and resources they need to provide better care and ensure their practice is inclusive, person-centred and respectful.
In this one-hour webinar, the GeneEQUAL team will talk about how they work together to build more inclusive, person-centred and respectful health care and education. They will discuss the co-production of the GeneEQUAL Toolkit and how that can be used by health care professionals to improve the health outcomes of their patients with intellectual disability.
