The Disability Worker Registration Board of Victoria, in partnership with the Victorian Disability Worker Commission are consulting on standards for registered disability workers in Victoria. The disability worker registration scheme in Victoria is the only one of its kind in the country and allows workers to become registered and demonstrate they are safe, skilled and professional, while providing greater safety for people with disability.
Registration does this via standards that registered workers must continue to meet. The Board and Commission are seeking feedback on proposed revisions to the standards to ensure they function effectively and can be implemented by the 2025-26 registration period. The three standards under review are:
- Criminal history
- English language requirements
- Continuing professional development (also known as CPD)
The consultation period runs from 11 November to 13 December 2024.
