Are you passionate about the rights of people with intellectual disability and their families?
Do you have attention to detail and a commitment to excellence and quality in legal service delivery?
Special Voices Disability Law and Advocacy is a bespoke small private legal practice designed to meet the legal needs of families of children with developmental delay and adults with intellectual disability and autism.
Our main practice area is the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) – access; planning; participant internal revies and appeals to the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART). Other practice areas include guardianship and administration; Wills and future planning; and disability discrimination.
We are based in Melbourne but, thanks to technology, support families across Australia.
We are rapidly growing, and are ready to expand in 2025. We have two initial 3-month casual contract roles on offer.
- Para legal/Law clerk – 2 days per week. Duties include legal research; assisting to write the firm’s educational publications; preparation of ART documents; triaging queries and client intake tasks. This role would suit a 4th year law student or law graduate.
- Legal administrative assistant – 2 days per week. Duties include diary management, responding to queries, practice management duties, and general PA tasks for the firm’s Principal. This role would suit an experienced legal administrative assistant with advanced organisational skills, a flexible “can-do” attitude and a professional yet warm demeanour with clients.
Generous hourly rates, plus superannuation. Initial 3-month contract with possibility of ongoing work. Start from 20 January 2025.
Training, support and mentoring provided to candidates seeking to pursue a career in disability law and/or family advocacy.
Work from a modern, fully-equipped office in a collegial environment in the Paris end of Melbourne’s CBD! Remote working options may also be considered.
