Event

A Sector at Capacity: Burnout, organisational change and adapting in the face of adversity

Time: 10:00am - 12:30pm

Location: The Hall

Speaker: Professor Michael P Leiter, PhD (U of Oregon) MA (Vanderbilt) BA (Duke), Professor of Organisational Psychology at Deakin University

This session is an ‘invitation only’ event. It’s a space for funded disability advocacy organisations from across Australia to com together and participate in a facilitated workshop.  It’s an opportunity to share knowledge and address some of the organisational issues arising during the transition to the new world of disability service provision.

Is your organisation feeling the pressure of overwhelming workloads and being overtaken by big systems? Are you finding that riding the waves and building resilience is simply not enough to stem staff burn out?

Anecdotally we know that the pressure of national systems such as NDIS and Centrelink, on top of the state based issues, is taking its toll on disability advocates. Demand is increasing, waiting lists are getting longer, and funding is less certain with project grants rapidly becoming the new norm.

Advocates working within funded advocacy organisations interested in participating should contact DARU to arrange tickets.
