Stories of Disability within a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Context, Action on Disability within Ethnic Communities

In this client-centred presentation, we will hear real stories from people about their experiences of living with disabilities in their country of origin, the challenges they faced when they arrived in Australia and how advocacy helped them overcome these challenges. Using these stories, this session will explore the barriers that arise at every point in a person’s settlement journey in Australia and importantly how advocacy organisations can help people overcome them. ADEC will share insights into the innovative approaches they use to help support people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds access services and navigate complex processes such as NDIS access.
