Laurie is Victoria’s inaugural Disability Services Commissioner and his Office (DSC) commenced operation on 1 July 2007 in accordance with provisions of the Disability Act 2006. Commissioner Harkin brings extensive senior experience to this role, having worked in a range of social and community services, including disability services, over a period of three decades. During that time, Commissioner Harkin has been a senior executive within state and local government agencies, non-government services and in the private sector. In 2013, Commissioner Harkin was appointed as a member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the community, particularly through the care and protection of people with a disability.Location: River Room
