Lizzie Blandthorn MP

Elected as the Labor Member for Pascoe Vale in 2014, Lizzie is Chair of the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee in the Parliament of Victoria. The role of the committee is to compare proposed legislation against the Victorian Charter of Human Rights. Prior to election Lizzie was a Senior Officer for the Catholic Education Commission of Victoria. For many years she was an official of the Shop Distributive and Allied Employees Ass. - the largest trade union in Australia. Lizzie was twice elected Vice President of the Victorian Labor Party. Lizzie studied a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne. Whilst a student she was elected to serve as the President of the Melbourne University Student Union in 1999, and as the student representative on the University of Melbourne University Council in 2000. Lizzie was also elected to serve as the National Secretary of the National Union of Students in 2001.
