Deaf Victoria, along with a number of Deaf and hard of hearing Victorians, have commenced proceedings in VCAT to ensure that Hoyts cinema can provide open captions in more screenings, on request.

The current measure – CaptiView – is not fit for purpose and does not create an accessible, comfortable viewing experience for Deaf and hard of hearing patrons, and the availability of open captions in cinemas is very limited.

Deaf Victoria is collecting data from ALL cinema patrons – Deaf, hard of hearing AND hearing- about their views on open captions and would like to hear your perspective.
