New research from the Melbourne Disability Institute shows disability wrongly listed as main cause of death

New Research from the Melbourne Disability Institute explores how deaths for people with neurodevelopmental disabilities like cerebral palsy, intellectual disability or Down syndrome are recorded in Australia. The research found that often disability is wrongly recorded as the main cause of death. Even when death certificates are filled out correctly, the coding rules can still wrongly list disability as the main cause of death. Read more about this research and the impact of these errors on how we understand the health and life outcomes of people with neurodevelopmental disabilities in the Disability and Health Journal.
