Advance Your Advocacy Practice session: Understanding the Victorian Child Protection System

Disability Advocates are highly likely to work with clients who are navigating the child protection system as rates of child removal for parents with disabilities are up to 10 times higher than for parents without disabilities. To upskill you in this area, DARU in partnership with Bianca Failla from Human Rights & Disability Law Partners ran two Advance Your Advocacy Practice sessions for disability advocates in 2026. The recordings and powerpoint slides from these sessions were not made public however Bianca kindly made some tip sheets from the session materials. Following this DARU ran two Advocacy Toolkit sessions for folks to confidentially discuss their cases.  Disability advocates who attended these toolkit sessions have also kindly made available some resources that they have found helpful in their advocacy work in this area.  You can find them below.
