Advance your Advocacy Practice session: Advocating for people with psychosocial disability or mental health issues in mental health units

Disability Advocates often work with clients with psychosocial disability or mental health issues who are subject to mental health orders and find themselves confined to mental health units. Developing and honing your skills in how to effectively advocate for your clients rights when they are at times of crisis in these institutions is vital. The Mental Health Legal Centre present this Advance Your Advocacy Practice session, where our focus is on understanding the systems and structures in which these orders are made, unpack the paperwork you will encounter and provide you with some helpful templates for you to have in your advocacy toolbox.
